Gaur City’s 5th Avenue in Greater Noida West on Friday elected four members as office-bearers including president, vice president, secretary and treasurer.

The declaration of office bearers has come nearly a month after the residents had elected ten members for their apartment owners’ association (AOA) in an election held in the first week of March. Friday’s election of office bearers was much awaited and was done with unanimous consent of elected members.

Pradeep Kumar and Preet Bhargava were elected as president and vice-president, respectively, while Rajeev Kumar and Sunil Kumar were elected as general secretary and treasurer, respectively.

For long, the residents of the society have been complaining about lack of proper security and house-keeping services, following which the elections for AOA were conducted.

Speaking to City Spidey, Preet Bhargava said, “Conducting the AOA elections was a challenging task but it was completed without any hassles because of the support from residents and the management team. Now, our first priority is to get the association registered under the UP Apartments Act.”

Enlisting the AOA’s priorities, Bhargava said that their first aim is to get all the documents from the builder and conduct an audit of the maintenance facilities to decide further steps. “Then we will proceed to improving basic facilities such as housekeeping, gardening and maintaining parks. We will also work on water seepage issue that has been reported from many places in the basement,” Bhargava added.

The residents have been complaining against inefficient security system, high maintenance charges and frequent breakdown of lifts.

AOA president Pradeep Kumar said, “Overhauling the current security system and maintaining parks are high on our priority list.”

The 5th Avenue at Gaur City has become the second society in the township where an AOA has been formed. Out of the total 1,150 families living in the society, nearly 60% are tenants.

Apart from four office-bearers, other AOA members include Achal Rohit, Ritima, Parmender Bansal, Mukesh Pal, Rajesh Ranjan and Lalit Sanwal.

Meanwhile, the residents seemed elated with the development. Sachin Sharma, a resident said, “I think it’s a win-win situation not only for those who won the elections but also for the residents. I have been living here for the past four years and have faced several issues with the builder. But most of the issues were never resolved because of two reasons – lack of unity among residents and no presence of a legal body managed by residents. This will hopefully change things for the better.”

However, Rajeev Kumar who was elected as general secretary resigned voluntarily, hours after getting elected.
