Jalvayu Vihar resident stumbles upon his stolen car on OLX

"OLX pe bech de" - the tag line which proved to be too catchy for the online buying and selling site, has for once made life difficult for the sale-purchase giant. A person, whose car was stolen, was shocked when he found the same vehicle for sale on OLX.

Kulwant Singh, a resident of Jalvayu Vihar Sector 21, Noida, got the shock of his life when he stumbled upon an advertisement for sale of his stolen car on the OLX on May 22. He was surfing the site as he was looking for a second hand car. On seeing his own car on sale, he informed the police.

Police traced the car to Loni in Ghaziabad and arrested one Rafique Gulzar, who was presented in a local court and sent to jail. The car was stolen on August 4 last year, from outside Singh's residence.

Singh told City Spidey that he was looking forward to buying a second hand car on OLX when he found that his own stolen vehicle was available for sale on the site. He immediately informed the Sector 20 Police Station about this.

"OLX is guilty under Section 79 of the Information Technology (IT) Act," said Dinesh Yadav, SP City, Noida. "We will certainly initiate action against OLX, for allowing the advertisement of a stolen car. He added that while Rafique Gulzar had been sent to jail, investigation is on to find the person who actually stole the car and sold it to Rafique Gulzar.
