Gurugram: Traffic jams at Sec 22B's main entry road irk commuters; seek relief

Presence of SEZ, random parking of vehicles on footpaths and overall traffic management are cited as key reasons behind such mess.

Gurugram: Traffic jams at Sec 22B's main entry road irk commuters; seek relief

Residents and commuters in general across the city are forced to face a harrowing time while exiting the stretch, main entry of Sector 22B. Reason? Huge traffic jams caused due to the presence of SEZ (Special Economic Zone), near Dundahera (Old Delhi-Gurugram road). However, people get some respite of traffic snarls on weekends.

Talking to City Spidey in this regard, president of the RWA (Sector 22) Bhim Singh said, “It has always been a major concern for us. I tried to raise this issue in the CM window. Though there was a bit of relief for a few days, the situation is again back to square one.”

“Besides the vehicles which make exit out of SEZ, people park their cars randomly on footpaths which are meant for pedestrians. This also aggravates the problem,” Singh added.

Prompt action by the department concerned is what people demand in order to get relief.

City Spidey tried to contact officials from the traffic department to know about their views and course of action on this issue but nobody was available to respond.

Commuters in the past too had faced difficulties using the 500-metre long stretch as they had to witness hour-long congestions.
