Residents of DLF Phase I have decided to carry out a protest on May 30 against Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) for failing to supply adequate water.

The residential colony has been facing acute water shortage for past 15 days and while HUDA officials admit that there is a genuine problem at hand, they have done nothing to resolve it.

“Both DLF City Phase I and II are connected with Basai water treatment plant but due to the distance between these residential colonies and the plant, the supplied water has low pressure. The concerns of the residents are genuine and we have been working hard to solve this problem,” said Yash Pal, HUDA Administrator.

The HUDA officials also admitted that there was not a single water booster station in the region to regulate the pressure of water coming from Basai. As a result of this, residents have been completely dependent on water tankers, which are inconsistent.

"Both HUDA and Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam [DHBVN] have no sense of responsibility," said RS Rathi, RWA president of Qutub Enclave, DLF Phase I. "The water supply is erratic and there are a lot of power cuts. There is no coordination between the two to even solve the power cuts that coincide with the scheduled time for water supply. Why don't they do anything about it?"

The local councilor Rama Rani Rathi, told City Spidey "As a welfare body, we have been applying pressure on HUDA to at least supply water tankers. But we need a permanent solution for water and power supply.”

She added that she had appealed to residents to assemble in large numbers at Arjun Marg on May 30 and march towards Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner's office to register their protest. We will also hand over a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner to complain against the inaction by HUDA and DHBVN officials.”
