Residents of Sector 99 were a troubled lot as power cut in the wee hours forced them to experience a sleepless night on Saturday. The power failure occurred at 3 am whereas the supply resumed around 6 am.
Talking to City Spidey, a resident of the sector Vinod Chaudhary said, "As soon as we woke up in the morning, we started making general inquiries with our neighbours regarding the power cut in the sector but none of them were aware of the reason behind the disconnection. Besides, there was no intimation given to us by the department concerned."
Power cut for almost three hours left the residents with no option than spending the night amid the hot and humid weather.
Rajeev Chaudhary, another resident of the sector shared his ordeal saying, "The moment power got cut, we woke up as it was getting difficult to sleep. We had no other way than sitting and waiting for the supply to resume. It was around 6 am when we actually heaved a sigh of relief."
Besides, residents of Sunshine Apartments lodged a complaint with the officer concerned but to no avail until power minister of the state Shrikant Sharma intervened in the matter.
Mohit Shukla, a resident of the same society tweeted about the same on the minister's official handle, alleging that despite making complaints, there was no reply from the person concerned and no action has been taken so far in this regard. He demanded stringent action against the officer for sheer negligence.
Taking cognizance of the matter, power minister Shrikant Sharma directed the officials to resolve the issue immediately. Subsequently, the matter was solved.
Shukla expressed his gratitude to the Minister for addressing people's concern, directing officials to take prompt action in this connection.
