Indirapuram: Residents in fear due to rising street crimes

The residents, belonging to high rise societies in Indirapuram, are in fear due to rising street crimes in Ghaziabad. The victims of crimes such as burglary and chain snatching are blaming the police for inconsistent patrolling in the area.

As per the data, 194 incidents of chain snatching have been reported from January 2019 to April 2019 in Indirapuram, Vaishali and Vasundhara area. Last year, a total of 416 chain snatching incidents were reported.

A resident of Shipra Suncity, Sangeeta Singh said, “The streets outside my society are very well-lit and crowded. Despite that, my chain was snatched while I was coming back from a nearby market few months ago. After that, I fear to move outside alone.”

As far as burglary incidents are concerned, a total of 213 incidents were reported from Indirapuram, Vaishali and Vasundhara in 2018.

On January 5, two cases of burglaries were reported from Ashiana Greens, a high rise society in Indirapuram.

On February 26, burglars broke into three flats in a gated society in Vasundhara. They took away valuables worth over Rs 20 lakh from flats at Shiv Ganga Apartment in Sector 4B of Vasundhara.

Sandeep Kumar Singh, SHO of Indirapuram police station said, “All the burglaries which happened in our jurisdiction have been done by professional thieves.

“Some of the societies, where these burglaries happened, have not installed the CCTV cameras. The thieves visit these places and make a plan ahead of carrying out burglaries,” he added.

“Police is trying to check the crime in the area and police is being deploying at every junctions to stop the crime on roads,” he said.
