Two bike-borne assailants on Wednesday attempted to snatch a bag of cash from a person near Bishrakh area in Greater Noida.

Alok Mishra was moving on a scooty towards Stellar Jeevan society to meet someone when he was stopped by two unknown persons on a bike.

“I was going to Steller Jeevan society to meet one of my customer. They stopped me and tried to snatch my bag. I immediately left my scooty and start running with full speed towards Arihant Arden. They fired on me but luckily I escaped unhurt. They continued to chase me. However, seeing some people outside the Arihant Arden, they ran away,” talking to City Spidey, Mishra said.

There has been a sudden surge in cases of thefts and burglaries in Greater Noida. Almost two dozen cases of thefts and burglaries have been reported in last one month from the societies in Greater Noida West.

Talking to City Spidey a senior police official in Bishrakh police station said, “We have received complaint of the matter and investigating the case.”

Snatching of mobile phones, purses and chains have become common in the area.

Angered with the rise in the crime, the residents have pointed figures on the top police officials who have failed to check the present situation.

“Criminals are roaming fearlessly here and everyday people are being targeted because these criminals are aware with inactiveness of the local area police. It's not a small thing that one is being attempted for loot in broad daylight,” said Manish Kumar, a resident of Arihant Arden.
