A woman named Shipra Mishra with her eight-year-old daughter Khushi got stuck in a lift for half an hour in Panchsheel Greens, a high-rise in Greater Noida's Sector 16B. The incident occurred around 11 pm on Wednesday.
Residents of the society were already suffering due to power cut for the past two days. Besides, there was no power back-up in many towers of the apartment. This aggravated the situation as the rescue device of the lift, in which Shipra and Khushi were stuck, did not work.
Shipra, a resident of Block F5, immediately thought of contacting people from the maintenance team through her phone but she could not as there was no signal available in the lift. Concerned about her girl child and feeling helpless, Shipra yelled, calling people for help following which some of the residents rushed to the spot and informed her husband Hemant about the incident.
Hemant, without any delay, searched for guard and lift operator but no one was there to rescue these two people. No information was available about the operator at the main gate. Besides, there was nobody available to take calls at the maintenance department.
After some time, he managed to get a lift operator but strangely, he was not having the key to open it. Meanwhile, Shipra asked for water as she was feeling unwell.
After half an hour, the power supply resumed and only then both Shipra and her daughter Khushi were rescued from the lift.
Sensing the need for medical help, Shipra was immediately taken to nearby Vrindavan Hospital from where she was taken back to her home after treatment.
A written complaint has been made by the victim's family in the Bisrakh police station citing negligence shown by the management of the society. President of the Apartment Owners' Association (AOA), Vikas Kumar accompanied them.
“The management of the Panchsheel Greens is reluctant to hold talks with the AOA. We approached director Anuj Chaudhary in this regard but he is not even willing to meet us,” Kumar claimed.
This particular incident raises serious questions on the approach of the builder who is supposed to hand over the maintenance to the AOA, which is formed to address residents' concerns and grievances.TAGS: Greater Noida West news / local news / lift malfunction / lift breakdown / stuck / woman / girl / Panchsheel Greens / society / apartment / maintenance department / AOA / complaint / handover / builder
