55-year-old lady gets trapped in lift at Windsor Court

A big mishap was averted at Windsor Court, a residential society in Sector 78, Noida, on Wednesday evening when a senior citizen along with her grandson got trapped in passenger lift of the society.

While returning from open green areas in the society to her flat on the third floor of Block-J, the 55-year-old Sundari Devi, accompanied by her grand son entered into the lift on the ground floor of the tower. As the lift gate closed, a sudden jerk occurred and it got stuck between second and third floor of the tower.

The lady quickly called on helpline through the intercom service but none of the on duty guards attended the phone. Then she raised the alarm and shouted for help. After hearing the noise, residents of other flats on the second floor came out of their flats and quickly called the security guards to rescue them.

During all this, 15 minutes passed and they started having problems in breathing. The boy was frightened. Somehow, residents and guards managed to open the door of the lift and safely rescued them.

Residents complained that this lift has not been working properly as it broke down on several occasions. Prabitra Kumar Dash, a resident of the society, lodged a complaint with citizen charter at the office of chief minister Yogi Adityanath for solving the problem. But his complaint has not been addressed. The problem is yet to be attended.

He told, “The particular always causes problems. It breaks down repeatedly. The senior citizen and her grandson had a frightening experience.”
