The pollution control board has slapped a fine of Rs 6 lakh on the builders of two under-construction projects in Greater Noida for violating norms.

Besides, the board has imposed a penalty of Rs 25 to 50,000 on under-construction flats and eight commercial sites following an inspection.

Regional officer of the board Archana Dwivedi and her team on May 29 inspected the sites of Mercers Mahagun India Private Limited, located in Roza Yakubpur. During the inspection, it was found that a ready-mix concrete (RMC) plant was functioning without seeking the permission of the pollution board.

In this regard, the board has recommended the district administration to take action and impose a fine of Rs 1 lakh.

Similarly, officials of the board during their site inspection found that digging work was going on in the basement of GH9-C, Techzone 4 Group Housing Project, JM Florence, and JM Housing. Mud was spread all over, causing severe dust pollution. Besides, no measures were being taken to tackle it.

Realising this, the board has proposed to impose a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the violators.
