Cold and foggy: Schools closed

The District Magistrates of Ghaziabad and Noida have ordered closure of schools in view of the acute cold and foggy conditions.

Schools in Ghaziabad will remian closed for three days from January 20 to January 22 and those in Noida for two days from January 20 to January 21.

However, the directive applies only to classes from Nursery to 8th. Says DM Ghaziabad, Vimal Kumar Sharma, "We would take strict action against schools not adhering to this directive."

Most of the schools will remain closed on Januray 23 also because of the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. The next day is a Sunday, which means a five day break for students of Ghaziabad.

No wonder, parents of school going children are excited. “I can sleep a bit more," says Preeti Patwari, resident of Aditya Mega City, Indirapuram, and mother of one. "To wake up at 5 am every day in this chilly weather is a punishment.”
