Vinay Singh has been appointed as commissioner of the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG).
Singh is IAS officer from Haryana cadre (2003) and was earlier serving as the commissioner of Hissar division, mentioned a report from Millenniumpost.in.
Apart from taking care of many civic problems of Gurugram, the newly-appointed commissioner will have to immediately work on two key issues – improving the cleanliness meter of the city and increasing the revenue of the municipal body.
MCG has been facing a lot of criticism from the residents for being not able to tackle major challenges like bad quality of internal roads, poor waste segregation system and water crisis. The authority also needs to look into the issue of property tax defaulters.
Meanwhile, Singh will also have to address the allegations and concerns of the residents on various topics. One of these is the inability of MCG to ensure effective recycling of waste at Bandhwari landfill site where approximately 1,200 tonnes of waste from Gurugram and Faridabad is dumped daily.
MCG has also been facing corruption charges on the issue of not penalising the residential properties that operate as illegal guesthouses and commercial complexes.
Singh also holds the position of secretary of Haryana government's forest department. He was earlier the deputy commissioner of Sonepat and was transferred as the commissioner of Hissar in February this year.TAGS: Gurugram news / Gurugram news on City Spidey / Vinay Singh / commissioner / Municipal Corporation of Gurugram / Haryana
