The police on Tuesday arrested director of a housing development company for allegedly duping 66 home buyers of crores of rupees and doing violations of Haryana Development and Regulation of Urban Areas Act in Gurugram

As per police, the home buyers had invested in the project called 'The Luxurium' of Realtech Realtors Pvt Ltd in Sector 73 in 2011.

After the arrest, accused Atul Kumar was produced at the district sessions court on Tuesday. Then, he was sent in police custody for two days.

Police said the accused complained about low blood pressure and was then admitted to a hospital on Wednesday.

District town planner, enforcement, RS Bhatt had complained to Badshahpur police station in December 2017 after he received complaints from home buyers who had invested in the project.

Mukesh Kumar Mann, station house officer, Badshahpur police station, informed that case was registered on the complaint of RS Bhatt.

Talking to HT, Bhatt said, “I had complained at Badshahpur police station against the developer for collecting money in violation of section 10 of Act 8 of 1975 and for duping people.”

Mann said, “Flat buyers were informed by the company that it will give possession of flats within 36 months from the time when the construction of flats were started in 2012. The buyers paid 60 per cent of the amount. Then, company discontinued the construction and started diverting the fund for personal use.”

He continued, “The accused was continuously on the run. He was not found at his residence and office during dozen raids in the past. On Tuesday, we got a tip-off and arrested him from his residence.”
