Imposing the solid waste management rules, the Noida Authority on Saturday started penalising people who litter on roads in the city. With the penalties, the officials have sent out a message that dumping garbage in public places will be subject to severe penalty with immediate effect.

So far, the Authority has slapped a fine of Rs 22,500 on different defaulters caught dumping garbage along the sides of the road till now. According to a statement issued by the authority, the enforcement cell caught two persons dumping wet waste of a commercial unit on the roadsides in Sector 155. 

A fine of Rs 5,000 was slapped on them along with challan by an on-duty officer for violating the law and littering at the public place. Similarly, the official issued a challan of Rs 4,500 for using polythene bags despite of it being banned in the city.

Moreover, officials of the authority informed that nine individuals were caught under the charge of throwing garbage in the open. A penalty of Rs 5,000 were imposed on each defaulters who were caught dumping waste at a site where dumping is banned.
