Greater Noida: Residents to meet over rising dust pollution

The ever-rising dust pollution and shrinking green areas have become a cause of concern for the residents living in Greater Noida. Now, to address the issue, a group of residents have planned to bring the RWAs and AoAs of different societies on one platform.

As per the residents, the rampant construction activities without proper adherence to the norms and illegal encroachments are the reasons behind the current situation.

They have planned a programme for discussion on the ways to curb the pollution and create awareness among the residents. The programme will be held on Sunday (June 23) between 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm at Gaur City's 6th Avenue.

As informed to City Spidey, initially, the idea was to bring those people onboard who are actively raising the environmental issues at their level.

“There are many social organisations and individual environment activists who are actively working in Greater Noida. We have planned to bring those people together and use their expertise in finding solution to the problem through discussion,” said Vivek Singh, the man who thought about this initiative.

He further said that there have rarely been a day when residents have not raised their concerns in personal capacity or on the different social media platforms. “We want to make their voices strong so that the concerned authorities pay heed to our grievances,” Singh added.

Residents alleged that the developers are not following the norms either prescribed under Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) or Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

“Usually, the builders do not spare space for greenery which doing construction of the society. Also, they make concrete areas and put marbles at places which are supposed to be green,” Singh added.
