India Post organises Philately summer camp at societies in GreNo West

The postal department of Greater Noida on Sunday organised Philately summer camp at two societies – Supertech Ecovillage II and Gaur City 12th Avenue. The residents actively participated in the initiative of India Post which aims to impart knowledge to children with fun-filled activities.

City Spidey had earlier reported that India Post is going to launch Philately summer camp at the residential societies.

Every week, the department will reach out to couple of societies for the camp where children will be taught about the value of postal stamp and its history.

The camp is being organised with the help of Noida Extension Flat Owners Welfare Association (NEFOWA).

“Earlier, postal department had approached NEFOWA to share the idea and sought our cooperation for the purpose. It's a great initiative where children are being taught about the value of postal stamp and many other things. We prepared a list of societies and camp is being organised one by one in many societies,” said Vikash Kumar, a member of NEFOWA.

“So far, these camps have received tremendous response from the residents especially from the children,” said an official with postal department.

Kumar Vishwas, a postal officer who is supervising the event said, “To encourage the children, we try to engage them with games and other activities and teach them about the value of postal stamps. Each postal stamp has different value and have come in different times therefore children are being taught about all these things."

The programme will continue till June 30 and the postal department team will reach out to many more societies in coming days.
