Caught in the act!

Check out the video posted below. It is one classic case of theft caught on camera. A man walks into a house and quite casually peddles away with a bicycle. Thanks to the CCTV footage, he was later caught. It's a major reason why CCTV cameras are boon to the security in any society.

The incident occurred in Sector 30, Noida. The executive member of the sector’s RWA, Naveen Sahni, said, “Residents had caught a thief with the help of CCTV camera footage in the first week of May. The accused was trying to steal a bicycle from a house in the A-block of the sector.”

Residents have a good reason to pat themselves on the back. The RWA of the sector took the initiative to install 60 CCTV cameras at a cost of Rs 6 lakh in the sector.

The installation of the CCTV cameras started on April 25, 2016, and will be completed this week. 55 cameras have already been installed on various roads in the sector.

The RWA has also saved on the cost of making a monitoring room for the cameras. The DVR box, which shows the footage captured, has been installed in the houses of residents. Residents will monitor the footage themselves and delete it. The DVR box can store footage of the last 15 days.

Pramod Verma, president of the RWA, told City Spidey, “In the second phase, cameras will be installed in all the seven parks of the sector to keep an eye on those who sit in the park and consume liquor or gamble. In the third phase, cameras will be installed along the boundary walls of the sector.”
