A team of experts from the United Nations (UN) has announced to provide technical assistance to three cities of the country, including Gurugram. In this regard, they had studied the pollution levels prevailing in Punjab's Amritsar and Uttar Pradesh's Varanasi other than the 'Cyber City' from June 24 to 29.

A report with details of containing pollution will be submitted soon to the environment ministry.

Under Air Pollution Mission 2019, a 14-member delegation from the organisations like the World Health Organisation (WHO), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and others visited Gurugram on Friday. They inspected the area following which a meeting was held between them and officials of the Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB).

During the meet, the officials discussed the causes of pollution and ways to tackle it. Post the meeting, a workshop on the same subject was held.

IIT Delhi has also been included in the technical team which will assist in the mission. However, it has been made clear that no funding will be made by the UN team for this purpose as it has assured to provide just the technical assistance to the department concerned of the city.
