Children and youngsters from different multi-storied residential societies planted 100 saplings.
Residents of several high rise societies in Sector 61, Noida, on Sunday carried out plantation drive to enhance the green cover at their residential pockets. The drive was carried out at a sports ground in the sector.
According to residents, they carry out a plantation drive every year ahead of monsoon. They told that the time had come for plantation drive as monsoon is likely to knock our doors soon. "It is the love for nature which drives us to carry out plantation drive every year," they added.
Children and youngsters from different multi-storied residential societies in the sector showed great enthusiasm while the drive was in progress. They had collected the old newspapers from their homes and sold it for procuring saplings from a nursery.
R P Singh, a resident of the sector told that several saplings were planted by residents and children of the sector. He said, "Just like the way it happens each year, we are going to plant 100 saplings this year too. The same will be achieved in the coming days."
