Noida: RG Residency AOA election cancelled third time in a row

The deputy registrar, Meerut, ordered the cancellation of ongoing election of Apartment Owners Association (AOA) at RG Residency, a high rise residential society in Sector 120, Noida.

The order came a day before the election which was scheduled to take place on Sunday. According to the order, the deputy registrar acted on the received complaints from residents raising objections against the ongoing electioneering in the society.

Residents had complained that the model bye-laws is allegedly being floating by the committee, which appointed one election officer and chose eleven candidates for the ongoing election.

On May 5, residents of the society appointed PK Jaiswal as the election officer for the election of AOA in the society. Eleven candidates were supposed to take part in the election.

But, meanwhile, a group of residents approached the deputy registrar complaining non-compliance of the bye-laws. After receiving a complaint, the deputy registrar ordered the cancellation of the election.

The order further said that the election for formation of AOA board will now be conducted under the supervision of district administration, Gautam Budh Nagar. The same has also been communicated to the developer of the society.

It has been informed that members of the previous board won't be able to intervene in the election as it has to be conducted free and fairly.

The society's election is due from the past two years as it was last held in 2016. There was a rift between the developer and the then elected members of the society. Due to this, it is going to be the third time when the election of society got cancelled.
