Noida

Swoop on wanted criminals: The new senior superintendent of police of Gautam Budh Nagar, Dharmendra Singh, has announced crackdown on wanted criminals in the city with the launch a four-day 'Operation Vajrapath'. During the operation, the district police will arrest around 300 criminals who have been evading arrest. These wanted criminals are facing charges under Gangster Act, Goonda Act, dowry harassment etc.

Double murder accused arrested after six years: Maruf, a history sheeter carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, was arrested, in a six-year-old case of double murder, from Khoda on Thursday. The accused had killed his rival Saeed Anwar and his nephew Raees Alam inside a polling booth during panchayat elections in Moradabad in 2010. He had been absconding ever since.

Greater Noida

Five housing schemes launched: Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) has launched five schemes offering flats in residential and plots in industrial, institutional and commercial land use categories. In all 280 residential flats of sizes 29.76 meters and 54.75 meters are on offer. While 200 smaller units will cost Rs 11 lakh, 80 bigger ones will cost Rs 19 lakh. All these units will be allotted through draw of lots.

GNIDA indoor stadium set to go hi-tech: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) is considering launching a mobile application, Wi-Fi and website for its indoor stadium to enable members to book game slots and other stadium facilities online. Besides, it will issue smart card to the members.

Complaint of cow slaughter by Akhlaq neighbours: Residents of Bishada village in Dadri filed a complaint with Jarcha Police Station for alleged cow slaughter without naming anybody. The complaint came in the wake of a forensic report declaring that the meat found in the freezer at the house of Mohd Akhlaq, who was lynched by a mob, was beef. According to SHO, the names will be added after investigation confirms involvement of some person as suspected by the complainants.

Teenager drowns in pond at water treatment plant: A Class X student drowned in the pond of a water treatment plant in Mehandwara village near Sohna on Wednesday evening. A resident of Alipur, 16-year-old Ghanshyam, had gone to the plant for a swim with two of his friends.
