Over three dozen trees are being choked with concrete all around their roots in Kanchenjunga Apartment, Kaushambi (Ghaziabad). "The said concretisation has been done at the behest of RWA of the society," alleged green activists of Ghaziabad.

In a purported video received by City Spidey a resident, who wishes to stay anonymous, is showing the trees allegedly concretised at the behest of RWA of the society.

A complaint has been registered on Integrated Grievances Redress System (IGRS) portal of UP government by Pradeep Dahaliya, a green activist residing in Ghaziabad.

"The concretisation hampers the development of trees. Their growth stops and they tend to dry early," reasoned Dahaliya behind his complaint.

More than 36 trees in the premises of Kanchenjunga Apartments are surrounded with concrete which is in violation of trees act and NGT directions, alleged Aakash Vashishth, noted environment activist of Ghaziabad.

Vashishth has also complained about the matter to the office of Divisional Forest Officer (DFO).

As per UP Protection of Trees Act, 1976 and NGT's direction, trees within 1 meter of its radius, are prohibited for concretisation.

City Spidey tried to reach RWA but they remained incommunicado. Meanwhile, City Spidey also reached out to DFO Diksha Bhandari but she did not respond to the calls.
