Metro arrival delayed in Noida Extension

Residents of Greater Noida West disappointed as Metro authorities delay connectivity plans to weigh cost-effective options.

Metro arrival delayed in Noida Extension

The residents of Greater Noida West or Noida Extension will need to wait a little longer before they can avail themselves of the services of the much-awaited Metro Rail project in that area. Metro authorities are caught between two plans to connect Noida Extension. And now, they will take a final call on the proposal that will involve lesser costs.

Sources in Noida Metro told City Spidey that the initial plan was to take the metro line to Noida Extension directly from Noida. But later, some officials felt that the proposition would be an expensive one. The second option was to connect the track to Noida Extension, somewhere from the Noida-Greater Noida route.

Santosh Yadav, the managing director of the Noida Metro Rail Corporation, told City Spidey that they are in touch with their counterpart – the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC). He added that the DMRC has been asked to prepare a report so that they can decide on the more cost-effective option, and one that would spell convenience for the residents of Noida Extension.

Lokesh Sharma, a resident of Gaur City in Noida Extension, said he is disappointed with the delay. He added that as long as metro connectivity is not extended to the area the residents would need to shell out more money for commuting to Delhi or Noida.
