RESIDENT SPEAK: 'How much time does SDMC need to manage waste in Dwarka'

A resident of Sector 14 and a corporate professional, Shubhra, is irked by the poor management of the civic body. She wants the higher officials to take proper measures to resolve this long-pending issue.

RESIDENT SPEAK: 'How much time does SDMC need to manage waste in Dwarka'

Dwarka is considered as a well-planned city. Going by the phrase 'well-planned', I assume that everything in the sub-city should be up to the mark but sadly, my experience is not satisfactory when I look at the key issues, especially related to garbage.

While visiting various sectors across the city, I have observed that there are mounds of garbage lying on roadsides, in market areas, on footpaths, and outside dhalaos. What is more annoying and disheartening is the fact that the civic body concerned, the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC), is least bothered to manage it.

The state remains the same as it was 10 years ago. It angers me more when I realise that only lip service is being done in the name of 'Clean India' mission. I really want to ask the authority, the civic body concerned how much time do they need to prepare a concrete plan and initiate action towards it.

Since 2016, tall claims and big announcements are being made by the corporation to manage the waste across the area but no work can be seen being carried out in reality.

Higher officials of the department concerned and the general public should collectively make efforts so that the garbage across the sub-city is managed in an effective manner.
