Back lanes without street lights have become a major security concern for the residents of several societies located in Sector 12 of the sub-city.

Residents and members of RWAs of Sri Hari, Sahyadri, Gangotri, and other apartments have complained that the stretches behind their societies become pitch dark after sunset, making it a perfect haven for all sorts of miscreants during the night. Besides, such roads can prove fatal for commuters too.

Talking to City Spidey on this issue, president of Sri Hari Apartments NC Mishra pointed out, "Though there is a street light pole behind my society, the authority concerned is yet to fix a bulb to it! Also, there is no light in the adjacent park and the stretch towards Sahyadri Apartments and other societies. This puts the locality in complete darkness. It is a serious security issue and the department concerned should take prompt action in this regard."

Meanwhile, people of the sector demand regular patrolling by local police until the said work gets completed.

President of RWA (Gangotri Apartments) Umesh Kala, too, voiced the matter saying, "Anti-social activities take place due to lack of lighting, posing a severe threat to locals, especially during odd hours. It is a long-pending issue which needs to be resolved."
