Following the complaints made by the residents, the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) is likely to take over the maintenance of parks and green belts in four colonies of the city- Palam Vihar, Sushant Lok 1, Suncity and South City 1, starting August.

Giving out details, officials of the civic body said that a detailed project report (DPR) has been prepared to upgrade horticulture in these colonies and the work will commence from next month.

“Tenders in this regard will be floated by the end of this month,” officials added.

MCG has also claimed to approach Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) with whom they have a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for installing streetlights in the city.

“There is a demand for installing 15,000 LED lights in these four colonies,” officials of the civic body informed.

Residents of these areas had complained that parks are not being maintained properly as they are either barren or completely overgrown.

Besides, the absence of streetlights has been a major safety concern for the people of these colonies.
