The ongoing crackdown against illegal parking and wrong side driving by Gautam Budh Nagar police have been hailed by residents of Noida and Greater Noida on social media platform.

As reported earlier, the Noida police has launched drive against traffic violators and people consuming alcohol in public places in the city. The operation, headed by Senior Superintendent of Police (Gautam Budh Nagar), Vaibhav Krishna, was named as ‘Operation Clean.’

The residents from the twin cities have been time and again complaining about wrong driving, encroachment of services roads and social sites with photographs and videos. They have been demanding tough action from the police.

For instance, as per the police’s claims, during a long crackdown, the police claimed to have penalised nearly 15,000 vehicles for violating traffic norms while plying on city’s roads.

SSP Vabhav Krishna, who is active on social media, on Wednesday tweeted, “5 hr OperationClean 9 to make 10 Selected Chaurahas/5 Metro Stations"Model" for Traffic Mgt No Encroachment/Parking/Vehicle were allowed within 100m Our Chaurahas should be totally encroachment free (sic).”

“#OperationClean dear@sspnoida personaly I hate police but this was excellent and must follow pan India. This will clean crime, society's - hate, vahicle and cruption also (sic),” Samar Ansh, a resident tweeted.

Challans have been made for various violations, including not having valid documents while driving, and also for having casteist, fancy, lewd comments on their number plates.

Residents were of the view that changes have come after the recent visit of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath in Greater Noida and his hours-long meeting with senior police officials. Apart from ‘Operation Clean,’ the Noida police has also re-introduced anti-Romeo operation, and is issuing red cards to eve-teasers.
