With many areas of Greater Noida reeling under frequent power cuts residents are feeling the heat, literally. In the scorching heat of peak summer, even posh localities are not immune from outages that last for over four hours both during the day and night.
AWHO society is one of the upmarket addresses in Sector Pi six of Greater Noida where power cuts and load shedding have become a norm. People residing in various residential complexes here are coming forward with tales of woes due to erratic power supply.
Vijaykant Singh, a resident of the society, said, “While we are finding it difficult to cope with the soaring temperatures during the day, power cuts in the night are adding to our woes depriving us a good night’s sleep."
Preety Gautam, another resident of the society, told City Spidey that the power cuts do not follow a time schedule. "Sometimes the supply goes off during the day, at others, during the night. It is more difficult to endure the outage during the night as we can’t take rest after day’s hard work." she said.
Gautam informed that the power cuts is a rencent phenomenon in the locality. “We have never experienced such outages in the past,” she averred.
When City Spidey took up the matter with Suresh Mishra, an engineer with Noida Power Corporation Limited (NPCL), he cited faults frequently occurring in the power lines due to increase in the load as reason for the power cuts. Power cuts, he said, are necessitated to facilitate repair work.
“As repair work is on wherever power lines are broken, the problem of power cuts will be solved soon," he added.
