Gurugram: Unpaid bill, water supply to high-rises disconnected

Residents of Uniworld Garden (sec-47) and Unitech The Residences (sec-33) are distressed because of no water supply in their societies. Around 2100 families in these two societies are living without water.

On Tuesday, July 9, Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) disconnected water supply to these societies over non-payment of water bill by the developer. The water bill of these two societies now amounts to Rs 34 lakhs.

Residents on Wednesday, July 10 met Rao Nabir Singh, PWD minister at his residence and requested him to take measures to restore the water supply.

A GMDA official stated, “Even after sending multiple notices, the developers didn’t respond leading to which the water supply was disconnected by the authority.” He asserted “If the payment is made, water supply would be restored at the earliest.”

“Multiple upscale high-rise societies had not paid their water bills since years so we issued them notices over payment. Most of them cleared their dues right after receiving the notice and societies that didn’t are facing the consequences now.” remarked a GMDA official.

Unitech The Residences, made the payment of Bill on Tuesday itself, however the water supply is yet to be restored, claimed a resident. As per a resident of Uniworld Garden-2, the developer submitted the bill only on Wednesday so there is no water in the society. The residents are raging because of the inconvenience they are suffering from.
