Soon east Delhi citizen will be able to file Right to Information online as the East Delhi Municipal Corporation has restarted the facility, after spending years on their technical issue.

 
On Wednesday, the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) organised a workshop at its headquarters, aiming at smooth functioning of the online RTI portal. One of the senior officials informed that the the system of online RTI submission was implemented during unified municipal corporation, however, after trifurcation it remained non-functional for long period of time.


It took more than a decade for EDMC to re-introduce the online RTI mechanism after the trifurcation by the Delhi government in January, 2012.


“To provide authentic information to the citizen, also to maintain transparency in functioning with ample participation form the people of the city, the administration (EDMC) has once again re-introduced the system with updated software with an intention to do justice with the RTI Act provided to the people of the country,” said, R.P. Gupta, a senior official associated with EDMC’s public relation department.


The portal was launched in the presence of the EDMC officials. People who are planning to file their applications can visit www.rtionline.delhi.govt.in.
