Following police action, residents give conflicting views on need of bouncers

While most of the residents of high rises have lauded the Gautam Budh Nagar police’s action against bouncers illegally deployed as security guards in many societies in Noida and Greater Noida, there were also others who conceded that deployment of bouncers in the societies had become a need of hour.

They opined that system to deploy bouncers has both positive and negative sides. “There have been instances when bouncers have protected the residents in the society. It happens when outsiders try to barge into the society. But, on many occasions, it has been noticed that bouncers were also used against the residents,” said Abhishek Kumar, President of Noida Extension Flat Owners and Welfare Association (NEFOWA).

Residents of AVJ Heights, a high rise in Greater Noida, have their own opinion on this matter as they had scuffle with bouncers recently.

A group of residents had recently complained to the police that they were beaten up by bouncers who were called by the opposite side. A video of this incident had gone viral in social media also. Adesh Saini, a resident of AVJ Heights said, “Whenever residents raise voice against builder for demanding better maintenance services or facilities as promised, the builder sends bouncers to suppress our voice.”

He further informed that a team of police personnel had visited his society and detained couple of persons for allegedly running illegal security agency in the name of bouncers.

Sharing an incident recently occurred in the society, a resident of Eco Village-1 in Greater Noida, was of the view that sometimes residents use their power against the security guards when they are asked to follow the rules.

As City Spidey had reported earlier, a residents had smashed on glass window at the maintenance room while protesting against hours-long power cut. “I don’t think he would have dared to do this if bouncers were there in place of security guards,” a resident said requesting not to named.

Vikash Kumar, a resident of Panchsheel Greens, said that sometimes situation goes beyond the control and then deployment of bouncers comes handy. “For instance, in my society, many residents have not paid for swimming pool but they forcefully use it. What would the management do in this situation?”
