A Ghaziabad based trio of siblings Wednesday made the city proud after their world's largest eco-friendly shopping bag was registered in the Guinness Book Of World Records.

The bag, created by Radhey Verma (15), Khushi Verma (14), and Vaishnavi Verma (19), is 310 feet long 140 feet wide in measurements. Today, the bag was placed for display at the playground of Sun Valley School in Vaishali Sector 1, where the two younger siblings study.

For the past one-year the trio had been preparing for this day, with an aim to promote the usage of eco-friendly bags during shopping. "In 2018, we started making this bag with a motive to spread the message of saving our environment, which is in danger today from the menace of plastic pollution," Vaishnavi said.

It took around one and a half months for the trio siblings to bring the bag to life. The concept and designing of the bag was done by the trio but it took 30 other people to bring out the bag. "Even to lift it, it takes manpower of 40 people," Vaishnavi said.

Raj Verma, the father of the three, who is into garment business, helped them in their venture. "More than 160 meters of cloth costing over 7 lakhs INR was infused to make this bag," Raj said.

Meanwhile, Raj also beamed with pride in the rare achievement of his children. "More than making a world record, I'm proud that my children have made it for the environment," he said.

Raj further said that the children are hoping to dedicate this bag to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the occasion of Independence Day to honor his resolve towards cleanliness.

"I and my children would like to give this bag to PM Modi. We are inspired by his initiative of 'Swacch Bharat Mission' and would be grateful if he utilizes the bag to further the campaign of making India clean," Raj added.
