After significant rise in the cases of accidents, the Yamuna Authority asked Jaypee Infratech to find out the causes by conducting a survey.
In a survey conducted by Jaypee Infratech on causes of accidents on Yamuna Expressway, it came to the fore that most of the accidents happen due to drivers dozing off behind the wheels. The second most prominent reason was found to be overspeeding by the drivers.
As per the sources, after significant rise in the cases of accidents, the Yamuna Authority had asked the Jaypee Infratech to find out the causes for accidents by conducting a survey.
In a recent bus accident, 29 people died on Yamuna Expressway. The state government had taken that incident very seriously.
The officials of Yamuna Authority had asked the Jaypee Infratech, which is currently looking after the expressway, to take steps in direction of reducing the accidents on expressway.
As per the records, more than 150 people lose their lives in accidents every year on Yamuna Expressway. In the last six months, 110 people lost their lives in accidents on the expressway.
Arunvir Singh, an official associated with Yamuna Expressway Authority, said, “The survey was conducted by the company to ascertain the reasons for the accidents. Further details to be presented before the authority to chalk out future course of action.”
