To boost the green cover in the neighbourhood, the residents of Sare Homes, a residential society in sector 92, Gurugram, on Sunday planted as many as 300 saplings within the society as well as in the adjoining green belt.

Several varieties of trees and shrubs such as Neem, Peepal, Arjun, Pilkhan, Gulmohar, Champa, Kaner, Chameli, etc were planted during the drive. Women, kids and senior citizens of the society actively participated in the drive and took a pledge to take care of them.  

During the plantation drive, Dr SS Rawat, Superintendent Engineer, Irrigation, GWS & Gurujal; Vinay Dhull, Executive Engineer, Irrigation , GWS & Gurujal; Karan Singh Punia, Executive Engineer, GMDA; Raman Malik, Social worker; Sher Singh Chauhan, Sarpanch, Wazirpur Village along with the representatives of United Association of New Gurugram have participated and planted the trees in the vicinity.

Dr Rawat applauded the efforts of residents and motivated the residents to save water and protect the environment for the future generation. He said, “The Gurujal Abhiyan includes water conservation, rainwater harvesting, renovation of traditional water bodies, reuse, recycled, recharge structure and intensive afforestation.”  

Praveen Malik, President, Sare Homes RWA said, “The purpose of this drive is to make our surroundings clean and green and create awareness among residents. Today, the residents not only planted the trees but sow hope for better tomorrow.”

“It is the responsibility of the civic authority to develop and maintain green belts but none of these are developed in our area. Therefore, the RWA of Sare Homes took this initiative to develop a patch of 500 metres near our society. We have also requested the administration to take care of New Gurugram green belts as it is the need of the hour to conserve nature,” Malik said.

The residents who were part of this drive were Vinod Munshi, Secretary Sare Homes; DN Chaudhary, Pradeep Malik, Ashwani Sharma, Neeraj Lamba, Anil Saharan, Rajender Bisth, Manoj Singhal, Beer Singh, Abhijit Singh, Aditya Jakhar, Rahul and many others.
