Citing the violation of building plan, the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) has cancelled the occupancy certificate (OC) of 20 houses in Suncity Township, located in Sector 54 on Golf Course Road.
In this regard, the DTCP has written a letter to Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) and the municipal corporation seeking to cut electricity, water and sewer connection of the defaulters.
The action came after the residents made several complaints against the violations of the building plan in the vicinity. VMK Singh, a resident and former RWA member of Suncity said, "We have made several complaints to the developer who is also a custodian of this colony, but all our pleas went unheard. Then we have approached the CM window thrice. Finally, some action has been taken on the issue."
"Despite our repetitive complaints, there is no check on illegal construction. There are many houses in our area that are violating the norms and strict action must be taken against them." Singh added.
The residents informed that these houses are built in 60 square yards area of the G Block in the colony. They complaint that the owners of these houses have constructed 5 to 7 storeys in their buildings after covering 100 per cent of the ground area which is violating the building norms.
Abhay Poonia, another resident of Suncity said, "Most of these houses are engaged in commercial activities and running PG and guest houses which are violating the norms of the building plan. Due to this, the infrastructure here is getting affected, especially the power supply and roads."
According to the District Town Planner (DTP) Enforcement, Ved Prakash Sehrawat, after receiving the complaint we have surveyed the unauthorised construction raised in EWS plot of G-Block and found that the owners of these houses have violated the approved plan. The OC of these houses in Suncity colony has been canceled and as per the law, we have asked the concerned department to cut electricity, water and sewer connections.
Meanwhile, Dharambir Malik, Executive Engineer, MCG said, "We have received a letter from DTP and will soon take action. As per the laws, a weeks notice will be served in the coming days, informing them about the sewer and water disconnection."
