DDA aims for green Dwarka, organises plantation drive

A plantation drive was organised by the Delhi Development Authority in Dwarka on Saturday morning.

The drive was marked with great fervour and enthusiasm. Local residents along with the members of Delhi based Super Sikh Foundation participated in the drive. Officials like DM, Probation, Kapashera Saumya Sharma and SDM Headquarter, Arun Kumar and Deputy Director, DDA Horticulture Jameel Ahmad were also presented on the occassion. Each participant was seen planting trees and helping the Authority to make the area green.

Member of the foundation and other officials planted around 2,000 plants in sector 16C, Green Area. On the occasion, Ahmad said, "We are focused on replantation and minimising the damage caused to the plants. We want to convert this Green Area into a forest."

An environment activist, Ramesh Mumukshu told CitySpidey that the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is making full use of monsoon showers.

"DDA is using monsoon in an efficient way. Such green areas or forests is a need of time and if they are developing it, it' praiseworthy. I appreciate their approach and efforts," said Mumukshu.

A resident from the Crescent Apartment Sector 18A, Madhu Dagar said, "Today I planted Jamun and Guava. This type of plantation drives is a welcome move by the DDA."

The plantation drive at the beginning of monsoon is considered to be very healthy and fruitful to the newly sowed plants.
