People had no option but to survive on inverters. But, they did not last long and they had to face the complete power disruption.
Nearly 1,000 families, living in Ecovillage 2 in Greater Noida West, had to face power cut for over 24 hours starting Saturday. They depended largely on DG set power backup. However, many of the residents, who have not taken backup facility, had to live without the power supply.
Those people had no option but to survive on inverters. But, they did not last long and they had to face the complete power cut.
Sanjeev Saxena, a resident said, “Between 2:30 to 3 pm on Saturday power was cut in the area. However, after half an hour, power got resumed in other adjoining societies except my society. Residents thought its minor power cut assuming it would resume by the time they used inverters. Now, it has been more than 24 hours and they can not even charge their mobile and laptops.”
Residents said after waiting for couple of hours, they thought about inquiring from the management of the society. They got an answer that it was due to fault outside the society. Then the residents had to contact electricity distribution company – Noida Power Comapny Limited (NPCL).
Residents claimed they were informed by NPCL that power will resume next morning, however, they kept waiting for power to resume. “Around 12 pm today, couple of persons from NPCL came and we came to know that there was disruption in their system. Since then, they have been working on it,” Saxena added.
