Residents Welfare Association (RWA) of Shipra Riviera, a housing society in Indirapuram, held its election on Sunday. Fifteen contestants won and formed RWA board for the coming year.

The election was fought between two teams, Mehta & team and Bhatnagar & team, and one independent candidate. 522 votes were casted in the election and the winning team won with 384 votes.

Speaking on the agenda of the elected board, General Secretary of the RWA, Poonam Bansal said that there are five major issues which will be addressed on priority.

“There are five issues where we would like to put our immediate focus. They are dilapidated condition of internal roads, shabby electricity poles, choked sewer line, water logging and seepage in boundary wall,” Bansal said.

“Our internal roads are in bad shape and electricity poles are in shabby condition waiting for some untoward incident to happen,” Bansal complained.

“Our sewer line is choked. The rain drain running parallel to our society has been blocked with garbage which restricts passage of rainwater from our society to the drain. It always causes water logging following the rain. This water logging has further led to seepage in the boundary walls of our society,” Bansal added.

Bansal feared that the boundary walls could fall anytime. In July 2018, when Ghaziabad witnessed heavy downpour, a part of the boundary wall of the society had collapsed.

We have complained several times to Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) but due to their lackadaisical attitude, the issues remain unsolved.

Shipra Riviera is a joint project of Shipra Estate Limited and GDA developed it in the year 1997. 1,260 families with over 5,000 residents live inside the society.
