Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) will start start working on multilevel parking project in Indirapuram from next month.

On Monday, Kanchan Verma, GDA Vice Chairperson, said that the construction of the project will start in mid August and expected to be completed within one year of time.

After that, the project will be handed over to a private agency to run its operations. “Once completed, it will be looked after by a private agency which we have hired for next 30 years,” Verma added.

“The agency will bear the capital and operational expenditure,” Verma informed. However, the authority has kept a provision to manage the over-expenditures as well.

“The operator will be allowed to use 10 per cent of the area for commercial development. It will generate revenue for the operator in case the incoming parking is insufficient to manage the costs borne to run the facility,” Verma added.

GDA is developing a multilevel parking near Swarna Jayanti Park in Indirapuram. The area has been selected as its strategic location of being in vicinity to markets and residential areas of Indirapuram.

As per the plan, the parking lot will be spread over an area of 1,800 square meters. The parking lot will have capacity for 200 four-wheelers and 100 two-wheelers.

The soil testing of the designated area for the construction of the parking lot has been done by the authority.

Meanwhile, keeping in view the construction of extension of phase 3 of metro, the parking lot will ease out the parking woes of the commuters as well. The extension of phase three corridor, from Noida sector 62, has three metro stations proposed to come in Indirapuram at DPS Indirapuram, Vaibhav Khand and Shakti Khand.

“All these proposed metro stations are within 500 meters to 1 kilometer in range from the parking facility. The parking facility will definitely help the commuters to park their vehicles at the facility and board the metro rail,” Shiv Kumar, a resident of Indirapuram said.
