Noida: Golf Avenue 2 residents object to arbitrary notice over meter charges

Furious residents of Golf Avenue-2 took to Twitter on Monday to express their anger against a circular issued, stating that maintenance charges would be deducted from their prepaid electricity meters.

As per the notice issued by the maintenance agency, from August 01, maintenance charges of the common area will now be deducted from the prepaid electricity meters of all residences. The notice further urged them to recharge their meters in advance to avoid inconvenience in the future.

As per the norms laid by the PVVNL (Pashchimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd), housing societies or the builder cannot deduct any amount, apart from the used electricity charges, from the pre-paid meters installed for measuring electricity. It further states that housing societies cannot disconnect power supply on the pretext of defaults in payments related to 'other charges'.

The notice, which was placed on Monday, lead to a series of angry Tweets by the residents, who sought help from various officials and authorities. Amit Aggrwal, questioned, Will Noida authority take a stance on this? Meanwhile, another resident Sunil Singh sought help from Noida Authority CEO, Ritu Maheshwari via his Twitter account, "Maintainance charges with no address, no stamp, and signature. Last time 2-years paid in advance with no tripartite agreement."

The series of Tweets drew attention of the Noida Development Authority, which asked the concerned work circle to work in the region.
