The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) on Tuesday sealed three unlicensed banquet halls, as a part of their drive against such illegal establishments. 

The action came after Haryana Lokayukta directed the civic body to take action against illegal banquet halls in the city. Following the directive, MCG Commissioner, Amit Khatri, issued orders to initiate a drive against the illegal establishments.

According to an MCG official, most of the banquet halls in the city are not following the fire safety norms and does not have an approved building plan.

The three sealed banquet halls are—Ashirwad banquet hall in Jyoti park, Chinar Garden banquet hall of Badshahpur area and Blessing Party lawn of village Jharsa.

SS Rohilla, PRO MCG said, "The MCG has prepared a policy for taking action against the illegal banquet halls in the city. We have already sealed three illegal banquet halls during the first phase of the drive. We will continue to take action against offenders."

The authority is planning to take similar actions against other 69 banquet halls that are violating the rules and regulations laid by the authority.
