A 38-year-old woman from Indirapuram made the city proud after winning a beauty pageant held here in New Delhi. The winner Ruchi Garg was crowned with Mrs India title.

25 contestants were shortlisted for the title. Garg wrestled 24 other contestants to win the crown.
A mother of two, Garg is a house maker and lives with her family in Aditya Megacity, a high rise in Indirapuram. Her younger child is 11 year old and studies in 7th standard, while the elder one is 14 year old and studies in 9th standard. Her husband is a businessman.
She dedicates her victory to her family. "I could not have achieved this victory without their support. Throughout the journey, They encouraged me a lot," she said.
Speaking upon her journey, She said that she worked quite hard to win this contest. She started preparing right after registering herself for the contest in April. "I worked on my communication skills, general knowledge, fitness, and dancing. Four months of preparation with hard work, sweat and anxiety are behind this win," she said.
She had always wanted to participate in beauty contests, but due to her family responsibilities, she could not pursue her dreams. "Since my children are old enough to take care of themselves, when I heard about this opportunity, I thought to give it a chance. To my surprise, I won," she said.
At the moment, Garg is enjoying a celebrity moment as congratulations from family and acquaintances have started pouring in. "Also, after the crowning, when people present at the event requested me for selfies, photograph and autographs, It gave me goosebumps as I have become some celebrity," she said.
When asked what is the response of people back at home, she said people are happy and excited with her victory.
