Children in the age group 6-16 participated in a quiz competition today organised at the Ganpati Apartments of Sector 9, Dwarka.
The teenagers’ group of the society and the ladies organised the event at the society’s community hall under the guidance of S Kashyap, a resident.
The competition was divided into four categories -- 6-8, 9-11, 12-14 and 15-16. Questions were asked from science, history, sports, political science, geography, current affairs and films.
Talking of the event, S Kashyap said, “We are organising such events to get the children involved; to allow them to take responsibility. This whole programme was managed by the teenagers’ club of the society and a few teachers like Shweta Srivastava and Sharda Pasricha. The winners will be declared during the August-15 celebrations, and the prizes would be given out on that day.”
Stuti, Lakshay Kumar, Lakshay Malik, Kshitij, Shruti, Bulbul, Blossom, Avik and Shruti were some of the children from the teenagers’ group who supported the quiz competition with great enthusiasm. “We had formed this club to organise such events and to engage the children of the society. We want to make them aware about certain topics. We prepared the questions for the quiz; we arranged everything in the community hall and we requested the children to participate in the competition. It was a good experience for all of us, all in all.”
The society plans to hold more such events. Kashyap said, “We are planning to organise an event on the theme of ‘Best Out of Waste’. It will be held on June 20. The children will need to make some craft item from the waste material supplied to them.”
