The Apartment Owners' Association of Gulmohar Garden, a high rise in Raj Nagar Extension, on Wednesday alleged that the maintenance agency had forcefully torn down the protest posters that the residents had hung from their balconies.

"The facility manager along with the security supervisor and a few other men came around afternoon when only women were present in the flats. They brought a ladder along with them and used it to reach up to balconies of flats on the second and third floor, where posters were hung. They tore down each poster," alleged Shyamal Chanda, president of the AOA.

Even after repeated notices from the builder, the residents had hung the posters for more than two months now. The posters had highlighted a list of amenities, services, and negligence, under the provisions of the UP Apartment Act 2010, by the builder.

The AOA has alleged that this is done on the behest of the developer. “We came to know that an official of the SVP Group, the developer, was also present with the perpetrators of this crime,” Chanda said.

The move came after multiple legal notices were issued by the builder against the ongoing protest of the residents. Through the notices, the builder had warned the AOA to remove the posters, or they would have to face defamation charges.

The AOA is alleging this act as trespassing and criminal intimidation. “Today we will file an official police complaint after our special meeting of the AOA members,” Chanda said.

CitySpidey tried to contact the office of SVP Group but the officials refused to comment.
