Saturday rains throw life out of gear in Dwarka

Though rain brings some respite to people from the hot and humid weather, seems like Saturday morning rain showers did not bring any happiness to the people of Dwarka. Heavy rain on Saturday brought pain in their lives because of water logging, felling of tress and bad roads. The chaos created by rain shows how negligent are our civic bodies like South Delhi Municipal Corporation and DDA.

Water logging on roads, parks, market areas etc. has made the life worse for the people. The areas like Ramphal Chowk, Sector 7 and Sector 8 are the worst affected. Ex president of RWA of Sector 8 P Bhel said, “This is a perennial problem here in Sector 8 as the whole drainage system is paralysed. DDA is responsible for that.”

There was havoc on master plan road no 201. The condition was worse from signals near Rajapuri market till the signal at sector 5, 6, 2, 3. Commuting from Palam flyover till Palam metro station was a big task for people because of knee deep water. The condition of the roads is same since ages. Waterlogging continues to be a problem.

Ramneet Kaur a resident of Sector 3 said, “This is very painful that you face the same problem persistently after the rain. Looks like our civic bodies are blind as they are not taking the issue seriously. The roads in front of our society usually get waterlogged after rain.”
