Though monsoon rains provide respite to people from hot and humid weather, they also bring many difficulties for them. Residents of Dwarka sector 8 had a troubled time as internal roads were full of water. Drains of blocks B and D are clogged due to which water accumulated on roads. Residents said that the drainage system of the entire sector had been in poor condition and there are many places which have no outlet.

AS Chatwal, general secretary Dwarka Forum and resident of Sector 8, said, “The morning rain caused waterlogging making it difficult for people to commute. Due to defective and closed clogged storm drains, water does not find any place to settle and gets collected on roads which results in waterlogging. Authorities must look into the matter.”

Residents said that this is not the first time that they are facing the problem of waterlogging. Last year too residents faced the issue of waterlogging. Ex-president of RWA of the sector P Bhel shared some photographs and said, “This is complete negligence on the part of civic bodies like DDA and MCD. If they clean the drains before monsoon, we wouldn't face any problem. Despite knowing the fact that we have been facing this serious issue they haven't carried out any maintenance. We want the issue to be resolved and the internal drainage system to be maintained properly.”

A DDA official on the condition of anonymity said that the subject would be taken into concern and the needful will be done.
