Gurugram: Rain water irks residents of Park View Residency

Rain might bring smile on many faces but for the residents of Park View Residency, a high rise society in Sector 3, Palam Vihar, it brought despair and anxiety. They are facing a harrowing time due to the rainwater accumulation at the entrance and in parking area of the society.

The residents informed that whenever there is a rain, water gets accumulated in the vicinity. They informed that the situation has become worse after the civic authority laid down the road and storm water drain in the vicinity two years back. They alleged that due to wrong alignment of road and improper connection to drains, the society remains submerged in water for a long time whenever there is rain.

Saurabh Bhardwaj said, "This happens every year whenever it rains be it little or heavy downpour. When the authority started the development work in our locality we were very happy but we never imagined it would become a nightmare for all of us. Due to an engineering fault we are facing the problem since the last two years but authorities failed to rectify the situation.”

The residents informed that the Park View Residency has a total of 680 flats. The residents also dread the outbreak of the vector-borne disease in the society. Rachit Garg, another resident of the society said, "The whole entrance gets knee-deep water and the accumulated water takes at least 2-4 days to drain out completely, thereby becoming a breeding ground for mosquitoes."

The people said that the condition worsens during and after the rain as they find it difficult to drop their children to school or pick their vehicles from the parking. Ved Trikha, other resident of the society said, “Rain makes the entire area muddy and sloppy which is risky for senior citizens like me. We cannot even walk in our society over the fear of falling.
