Indirapuram: Uprooted tree on Vaibhav Khand road creates problem for commuters

Just next to Parsvanath Majestic, a housing society near Shipra Mall, a road going towards Vaibhav Khand area of Indirapuram is half blocked as a full grown tree fell following Tuesday rains.

While one half of its dense canopy is blocking the road, the other half is resting on another tree standing across the road which is in a danger of falling anytime soon due to the pressure of canopy on its branches.

"Commuters can get hit with falling branches. It's dangerous and prone to accidents as well,” told Mohammad Ishtiaq, a roadside egg vendor whose cart lies near the spot.

The situation has been there since the last two days making it difficult for the commuters to take the road. While it is easy for two-wheeler to cross it, four-wheeler cannot cross the road easily.

"During evening rush, riders avoid this route and take the wrong side," said Amit Chaurasia, who runs a cigarette shop next to Ishtiaq's.

While the residents and commuters are facing the problem since the last two days, however it seems like Ghaziabad Development Authority is in a slumber state. "No worker from GDA attempted to lift this uprooted tree," said a president of a nearby housing society.

CitySpidey inquired from GDA officials looking after Indirapuram area. Junior engineer Ajeet Kumar said that the concerned department in this case is horticulture. Horticulture in-charge SKS Chauhan after listening the matter told CitySpidey that the tree would be removed by evening.

When asked whether he had prior knowledge about this tree, Chauhan said, "No complaint reached us. Other officials who go on the ground did not inform us either. Otherwise we would have done it earlier.”
