Noida: Uproar over dirty water supply in Eldeco Utopia

Residents of Eldeco Utopia, Sector 93A, Noida, have been grappling with the problem of dirty water supply for a while now. It seems Noida Authority has fallen short of its promise of providing Ganga Jal to the residents.

Residents complain that not only the dirty water is hazardous to health but even the water-purifying machines installed in their houses are being damaged.

Jitender Nath, a resident, said, “Almost a year ago, the CEO of Noida Authority, Rama Raman, and the district magistrate, NP Singh, promised that we would be getting supply of Gangal Jal. But our long wait for Ganga Jal still continues.”

He said that the residents of the apartment are forced to consume high TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) water, which is being recorded between 1700 to 2000 TDS. “The water issue not only affects health, but also results in corrosion of pipe lines and affects kitchen appliances. This, in turn, adds to the cost of living,” he added.

MD Pandey, project engineer of Noida Authority, agreed that there was a water supply problem, but only for a week. According to him, it was because of the short supply of power to a 20 cusec water treatment plant but that problem has been resolved and Ganga Jal supply has been resumed.

He added, “If residents of Eldeco Utopia have any problem pertaining to water supply, they should lodge a complaint with me. If there is any problem, it will be soon taken care of.”

* Water with TDS in excess of 500 milligrams per litre is not considered good for health.
