Taps in Indirapuram are likely to run dry as supply of Ganga Jal will be limited in the area. The shortage will last till August 15, said officials. Ghaziabad Development Authority has informed residents in a public announcement and appealed to save water during the period. Water would be supplied once a day between 7 am and 9 am. The supply is being affected owing to the ongoing interconnection work of two Ganga jal pipelines in Ghaziabad.
A pipeline of 2000 mm diameter had to be shifted due to construction work on the Delhi Meerut Expressway. Since the shifting process started, residents of Indirapuram, Vaishali and Vasundhara were not getting sufficient water supply. To reinstate supply, the Ganga Jal Board and the GDA are laying another pipeline of 1500 mm diameter. The latter be connected with the former (2000 mm).
Meanwhile, the authority has deployed over 50 water tankers of 4000 litres of capacity in Indirapuram and its neighbouring localities to maintain a check on scarcity, a GDA official said. "Still, we would appeal to the residents to not waste water," the official added.TAGS: Ganga Jal / Indirapuram / Ghaziabad Development Authority / Delhi Meerut Expressway / Vaishali and Vasundhara
